The summer issue celebrates style indoors and out, starting with our outdoor living feature that heads straight to the patio. Deckchairs out and ice-creams at the ready!

In our Child’s Play section, we check out the vibrant new fabrics and furniture for younger members of the household and hope you find plenty of scope for creativity here (note to mums and dads with design-conscious kids!), while in Sofa Style, we talk to two interior designers about the best way to go about selecting a sofa that combines elegant design with solid construction, guaranteed to give years of pleasure.

We take a peek at the modern extension that’s breathed a whole new dimension into a formerly dark and dated bungalow in North Kerry and then head to County Tipperary to another recent extension, this time the spacious kitchen of a home with lots of personal touches that reflect treasured family ties. In Kilkee, we visit the light and airy holiday home of Una Foley, one half of contemporary and retro furniture company CA Design. We also see how a London townhouse was completely transformed to create a spacious family retreat that echoes the owners’ holiday home in the Caribbean.

Artist Dana Winder shares her love of the landscape of south Kerry whilst food writer Donal Skehan celebrates the culinary art of Theodora FitzGibbon, selecting her best dishes and lovingly bringing them to life through his glorious photography. Wine writer Raymond Blake, whose book Breakfast in Burgundy will be published in October, delves into the history of winemaking in the Burgundy region.

Congratulations to Angela Power in Carriganarra, County Cork who won the competition in our last issue for a break at Castlemartyr Resort. Don’t forget to send in your entries for the competition in this issue, a two-night break at the Dingle Skellig hotel on the spectacular Dingle peninsula.

Have a sizzling summer!
